Radialix 2 offers the user 3 methods of automatic translation:

  • Search for exact matches
  • Search for similar translations using fuzzy matching
  • Translate automatically using PROMT 8

The program translates according to the settings for string editing and parameters of auto-translation. As it searches for the translation, Radialix may ignore the characters, saved in the start and end of a string, as well as the characters specified in the auto-translation settings. The user can set the program to make the search for translation case-sensitive.

Radialix 2 can translate strings by scanning the translation memory for 100% matches only. However the user can set the program to employ fuzzy matching algorithms to find similar translations. If the percentage of similarity is higher than the value specified in the auto-translation settings, the translation engine memorizes the found translation.

The program can search for translations in the translation memory. However the user can also choose other destinations, such as single files where strings are labeled as “Validated”, all files of the localization project, the memory of deleted translations. You can choose the destination to look for translation in the auto-translation settings.

The program follows 3 steps to find translation:

  1. Translation for a specified language;
  2. Translation for a specified language with a neutral country code;
  3. Translation for a specified language with a country code used by default;
  4. If a specified language has no more than two variants of country code – for the second variant of a country code.
The values translated by the auto-translation engine are marked “For review”.
Sometime, the program find more than one translation candidate for a string. In this case, the program displays a dialog where the translator can choose a candidate.

The dialog is separated into two areas. On the top, the translator can see source strings in a table. On the bottom, there are translation candidates for a source string. There is a movable separator between the tables. You can select and drag the separator with the mouse to change the height of the tables. The dialog itself can be resized too. As an added bonus, you can sort the data in the tables by clicking the title of the required column.

To use translations to build a localized file, you need to mark project elements as Validated or For Review.
